Secretariat to the Producers’ Commitments
IARD was Secretariat to the Producers’ Commitments between 2012 and 2017. Now that this initial program has ended, IARD members remain committed to continuing the spirit of the Five Commitments and the 10 action areas, and to considering what further initiatives can be undertaken collectively to reduce the harmful use of alcohol.
As the secretariat IARD:
- Coordinated reporting on the Commitments with KPMG and Accenture
- Managed the drink-driving prevention pilot programs, and other pilot initiatives
- Coordinated with international partners, such as the World Federation of Advertisers
- Commissioned analysis of marketing compliance
- Bought together experts and partners, such as researchers and retailers
- Conducted analysis on policy and programs
- Produced policy tools and good practice guides, for example, the Alcohol Education Guide
